It is correct that Type II DM is at risk for DKA!

 

But the greatest risk for Type II is Hyperosmolar Hyperglycemic Nonketotic Coma or

Syndrome (HHNK or HHNS). Remember that Type IIs may have either an impaired insulinsecretion or resistence to insulin at the target cells. Type I is an absolute lack of insulin.
